Philosophy<\/h4>\n

In accordance with the motto of Tzu Chi University, which is \u201cthe spirit of kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity\u201d, our aim is to educate and develop students as physical therapists that provide humanism, professionalism and ethical leadership. In addition, students are trained to carry out the philosophy of life-long learning and integrated health-promotion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

2008
\nThe Department of Physical Therapy at Tzu Chi University (TCU) was formally established on June 6 by the Ministry of Education.
\nThe Department of Physical Therapy at Tzu Chi College of Technology founded in 1995 ended its enrollment of students in 2009.<\/p>\n

2009
\nThe Department at TCU admitted its first class of 45 students.
\nAssociate Professor Chien-Hui Huang served as the first department Chair.
\nAll faculty members received problem-based learning tutor training provided by the Center for Faculty Development and Instruction at TCU.<\/p>\n

2010
\nThe ongoing renovation of the department floor was completed and new space and lab equipment was ready for use.<\/p>\n

2011
\nThe Department, for the first time, admitted 3 student athletes through the University Entrance Examination and accepted 4 exchange students from Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mainland China.
\nThe first white coat ceremony was held prior to the students\u2019 4th year clinical practicum.<\/p>\n

2012
\nOur first exchange student was admitted into Hamlstad University, Sweden, for one year.
\nThe first graduating class took the national licensing examination to work as physical therapists in Taiwan.<\/p>\n

2013
\nProfessor Kwan-Hwa Lin took over as our second department Chair.<\/p>\n

2018
\nProfessor Chien-Hui Huang took over as our Third department Chair.<\/p>\n

Our Mission<\/h4>\n

Our mission is to prepare a competent physical therapist that possesses professional knowledge, demonstrate caring and compassion toward patients, and serve the physical therapy needs of society.<\/p>\n

The curriculum has been designed to develop the following competence in our students:<\/p>\n

Provide excellent health care services by integrating professional knowledge;
\nAdhere to ethics and values of physical therapy profession;
\nDemonstrate basic administrative and research skills;
\nEngage in independent thinking and life-long learning.<\/p>\n
